Hello Eagle Students and Parents,
Can you believe its that time again? As we move swiftly throught he remainder of the 2011-2012 school year, it is time to start selecting courses and scheduling students for the 2012-2013 school year. Quietly, we have actually started this process already with looking at enrollment projections, evaluating the new Common Core and Essential Standards, and a Pre Pre Registration with students in early March. After the approval of the high school course registration handbook by the board of education, we will have a homeroom session for registration for all returning students. At that time, students will be provided with a tentative master schedule or matrix that has been developed based on pre pre registration, graduation requirements, common core requirements, and student interests. Also, students will receive a copy of the handbook (or access to an electronic copy), a copy of their unofficial transcript, and a registration sheet. Our plan is to conduct this sessionon Wednesday, April 4.
With access to a tentative master schedule, students can make informed choices about when courses will be offered to ensure that they have the best chance to get all of the classes that they want and need. It is important to note that there is no guarantee of that and that having this matrix also gives them an opportunitity to make choices with their parents about which courses are most important to their graduation status and future plans. Homeroom teachers will help guide this process, but having the information that students and families will receive on April 4 should make that process relatively smooth.
On Friday, April 6, we will have another short homeroom for all students to turn in their registration materials. After that our registration team will begin to input the schedules into the matrix. After Spring Break, students will meet with a registration team member to go over and finalize that schedule. Any schedule changes that need to be made, MUST happen at that time. When registration is closed, the only changes that will be make will be those based on graduation requirements.
Let's finish 2011-2012 strong and focused on our goals and then gear up for 2012- 2013. Have a great Spring Break!
Respectfully,
Jeremy Batchelor, Principal
